Exhibition Basics

Space
1800 square feet (167 square meters) is available for exhibitions and the total public area of 5240 square feet (487 square meters) may be used for receptions.

Availability
The Pendulum Gallery space may be used for exhibitions, promotional events or other activities and is freely accessible to the public. The venue is also available on a limited basis for private functions after 5:30 pm.

Exhibition Package
The exhibition package includes the following:

  • use of 21 display panels
  • use of 30 display cases
  • 4 hours of time for gallery preparator to put up panels and hang works on date of installation
  • 4 hours of time for gallery PR person to issue exhibition information to
  • local media (if exhibitors wish they could pay additional hourly fee for more extensive media information packages) Contact Us for more information on this service
  • use of piano for reception events - note that the building manager Colliers hires a pianist to play at lunchtime in the space (11:30 am - 1:30 pm)
  • Insurance coverage of $100,000 for documented artworks on display
  • Exhibition Proposals
    Proposals are invited from potential users at any time, reviewed by a selection panel, and are considered on the basis of:

  • artistic merit
  • focus or theme of exhibition
  • diversity among media, disciplines and cultures
  • suitability to a commercial building atrium space
  • Not-for-profit arts and cultural groups may qualify for a subsidy. The Application for Exhibition page will assist you in contacting us regarding exhibitions.

    Installations & Tear Downs
    Most exhibitions are installed Sunday afternoons and taken down Saturday mornings.

    Receptions and Events
    An evening reception is included in the exhibition fee if it takes
    place on a Thursday or Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The charge for Evening receptions related to the exhibition on display which take place on days other than Thursdays or Fridays are charged at the rate of $1500 per event. The charge for all non-exhibition related receptions or events are charged at the rate of $1500 per event, regardless of the day of the week.

    Reception events not connected with an exhibition have to work around any existing exhibition that is currently installed in the gallery. Exhibitions
    currently on display are not temporarily removed for reception events. All
    reception and special events not connected to an exhibition on display, are handled by Cadillac Fairview. Please contact Michael Chan: Michael.Chan@cadillacfairview.com for more details.

    Use of piano for reception events - note that the building manager, Cadillac Fairview hires a pianist to play at lunchtime in the space (11:30 am - 1:30pm). The piano is made available at other times during evening receptions and events. Please contact the Exhibitions Coordinator a minimum 24 hours prior to event to book the piano.

    Additional Exhibition Opportunity Six sidewalk display windows on Hornby Street are periodically available for rental on a per window basis. Exhibition periods are for one year.
